Feb 24, 2016ICE trekkers Diamond Grip Traction SystemThese chains worked fantastic on the snow, but were horrible on ice. My shoes were just as slippery on the ice as if I was not using the chains at all.

Read More The Diamond Grip trekkers work well initially. They do provide a good grip and prevent slipping. However, because the chains and beads are made of steel alloy rather than stainless steel, they rust easily. I tried to dry them off after each use, but I could not remove every microscopic droplet of water evidently because RUST eventually developed after less than a dozen uses. I tried to soak them in vinegar as some have recommended but that did not remove all the rust. I do not recommend this product, especially given the cost. -

Read More First winter they performed well. Great traction during one of our worst snow storms (NE winter of 2014-2015). Noticed rust developing. Went to put them on for the first snow storm of 2015-2016 and the rubber broke! I took good care of these, rinsed after use (in case of salt), stored in a warm, dry environment. These should have lasted more than one season. Not buying again. -

Read More Like many of the reviews, I also experienced significant rust on my Icetrekkers after one use in the snow (not even salted sidewalks). However, this is the third year of their use and they are still going strong. Running in them probably places them in the highest wear and tear possible for these. Even running with them on bare ground seems to be fine. If rust is an issue, I suggest scrubbing with vinegar. Also, drying them RIGHT AFTER use in the snow/ice/slush is necessary. I haven't had problems at the joints of the metal beads though, but I guess we'll see how that goes the rest of this season. :) -

Read More These offer excellent traction on sheer ice. I felt extremely confident walking on frozen Lake Superior to view and explore the Apostle Islands Lakeshore Ice Caves. They stayed securely on my boots the whole time. I cannot give these a five star rating, however, because they rusted significantly after one use. I only wore them on the lake ice and not on paved/salted ground. If these require some special care to avoid rusting I wish ICETrekkers would make that more obvious. -

Read More My recent purchase was a replacement for a pair purchased a couple of years ago. While these ice trekkers provide excellent traction on ice they wear out rather fast. My prior pair rusted causing the cable to break and my wife's pair wore through a chain link. I use these on city streets & sidewalks where salt is applied. But believe they should of lasted longer based on the price and information on the box stating aircraft grade steel cable.
