Read More I see another reviewer also had this problem. Bought these at REI in Feb. 2014. With in 2 month, the left shoe sole started squeaking with nearly every step. No matter the surface, grass, stone, carpet, tile..etc.. And it was too bad I lost the REI receipt. However, Keen is great company and even without receipt, they awarded me some warranty money for these. Avoid this style sole. I've seen on another shoe. But may not be on many shoes anymore. I still have them and some stitching on outside front has torn, but shoe is still comfy. Albeit the squeaky soles. The right shoe does it occasionally. -

After a long day in them, my feet often hurt. Something I don't get after whirring my Salomans or my Danners. -

Read More I've had these shoes for about a month now and think they are the most comfortable shoes ever. The toebox is nice and wide which has always been a struggle for me. Also, the leather lining is comfortable and feels more durable than previous shoes I've owned where the the clothe lining wore out before the rest of the shoe. -

Read More I am a big fan have owned many Keens over the years, including sandals, clogs, slip-ons, and hikers. They have all been reliably comfortable right out of the box, and durable. Got this on sale two weeks ago, and I expect to be wearing this pair for years too. This one has the classic wide toe box and cushy footbed. Interestingly, the classic rubber toe bumpers are subtly asymmetric with the left one being bulkier than the right! But I doubt anybody not owning these shoes themselves will ever notice. -
Sep 12, 2014On saleBought to replace some Merrils that had worn out. Fit sell but finish seems cheap. Will not stay tied.

Read More I bought a pair of these last December (2013) thinking they were going to be a comfortable and functional light hiker, trail shoe. During the winter I had little occasion to wear them beyond around town on sidewalks and such. Then, in March, I took them along to the Mojave Desert for some light trail hiking thinking their light weight design would be well suited to the desert. Boy was I wrong! After only a few minuets hiking on a gravelly, sandy path, I was feeling grit and debris in the show. This kind of stuff in any shoe would quickly bring on blisters and sore feet. I immediately took off the shoes to inspect. There was a surprising amount of small pebbles floating around in the shoe. After shaking out my socks and thinking that I must have stepped in some deep sand, I put the shoes back on and walked on. Almost immediately, I was feeling grit in the shoes again. This prompted a close inspection of the shoe design which revealed no gusseting of the tongue area and turned up corners of the leather at the first laceing hole. The design of the tongue/lacing base area seems to be very efficient at "shoveling" sand and debris directly over the toe area into the base of the tongue. Without any barrier, guset, at the base of the tongue, sand and other stuff is funneled into the shoe. Fortunately, I had my New Balance low tops and Vasque high tops along so I was able to return to camp for a shoe change and enjoy many days of pleasant hiking sans Keen. I bought the shoes based on in-store comfort and what I percived to be a good company reputation. These shoes and comments from Customer Service have soured me on Keen as well as the staffs understanding of my objections. Shoes should be designed for comfort and to keep stuff out. No more Keen experiments for me. -

Read More I bought a pair of Keen Alki Lace Shoes last fall and was PLEASANTLY surprised at how comfortable they were (even though I'm prone to plantar fasciitis). They have withstood Colorado elements very well. Unfortunately, they have begun to squeak, making them obsolete for wear in the office. Keen's reputation for high quality footwear has taken a hit.
