Read More Amazing Light. As with all surefire products the craftsmanship is superb. Superfast shipping to my local REI store. The hadband is very comfortable and it is replacable. Comes with a red a filter that slips on securely over the light. Super bright on it's high setting and plenty enough light to read a map or book on the low setting even with the red filter. -

Read More When the power went out this morning, finally decided to write about this great little light. Comfortable and bright(when needed), but low is usually enough because of the great flood. My main use is under a vehicle or in a dark house. If you are looking for a light with throw--move on. Never worn for a long time, so weight is not an issue, but I don't think it is heavy. Would replace with same if ever a problem with this one. -

Jun 4, 2012best light i have ever owned!had people who made camp 2 miles away hike over and ask me what headlamp i was using because they could see it from there camp.
Read More Bought from another source. This casts a wide beam--think of this as a work light, not a spotlight. It uses the 123 cells which remain somewhat hard to find, at least in comparison to AA's. These cells are lithium based which makes them less sensitive to low temperatures. (And light weight.) I consider light to be an essential, so I normally pack two lights anyway. I like to take this as well as a hand held which is normally more of a spot. While this light can be adjusted to bright, it is not great for identifying that animal whose eyes are "glowing" back at you. I already take the LED technology for granted, but super bright, durable, low battery drain lights are a real boon to weight sensitive backpackers.
