Read More When I first got my polar ft4 in March I loved it. It was comfortable and worked like a dream. Then in less than a month the strap battery ran out. I sent it in to be replaced and once I finally got it back it worked fine. Now I have a hard time getting it to continue tracking my heart rate. If I'm running it will work but if I bend over at all it will say check heart rate transmitter, which gets to be pretty annoying.

Read More I am disappointed with the FT4. I purchased this 2.5 years ago, it was my second Polar. I love the simplicity of HR monitors and had great luck with my old Polar F4 for more than 4 years...unfortunately, when the old style chest strap ran out of battery, that was it, can't be replaced. I went with Polar again...the new chest strap design is bulky and doesn't work as well as the old one piece. Also, the past 1.5 years the FT4 has given me lots of trouble with transmission (I've tried everything) and batteries (both in the chest strap and watch) need more frequent replacement (less than a year). I wish it would work properly and I really do keep having hope. But I am about to give up, as I am taking on regular running again and need a reliable unit. I don't know if I will try Polar again...the 2 piece chest strap sucks. Bring back the old style, please!

Or it would go from , say, 95 to 140, when I wasn't working that hard. I think the design of the fabric strap, with a detachable monitor, may be the problem. But REI gave me a refund, and I got a Garmin 15 Forerunner. Will review that in a few weeks or so. -

I thought it was a fluke the first time so bought another. Mistake. It did the same thing within 6 months. What a waste of money.

Read More I bought my FT4 about 6 months ago. It worked great for about 3 months and then started giving false readings or no reading at all. thought it was the batteries so I changed them out. Worked great for about 2 months and then started to have the same problems. I use this daily, and the last 3 days I haven't been able to use :( ... I have now purchased new batteries again and am waiting for them to come in mail. If I change them this time and it continues I will probably throw this away and buy from another Brand.
