Read More I have 5 backpack stoves. Why did I need to get a sixth? I still did not own a jet boil. After borrowing my friends jet boil every single meal on a backpack trip... I gave in. Several reasons... Fast and the boil indicator let me know when it was done and saved fuel because I did not have to check the temperature three times.. And I didn't pour any a half chilled water into my food. That temperature indicator is enough of a reason to buy the stove. The question I want to answer is do you need the coffee maker? It works ok for backcountry coffee. But if you're a real coffee snob this isn't the greatest French press. Lots of coffee grounds get past. Second, the coffee get your insulating cozy all dirty. Yes the stove is used for heating water but it's not great for cooking food... Even coffee. -

Read More Well, I haven't tried it yet because even though the subtitle says "The Jetboil Flash Java kit gives you everything you need ...", it does not include the fuel. I was going to order the fuel separately when I saw the subtitle and thought it was pretty clear it included EVERYTHING in the PICTURE. It does not. It does have everything else in the picture though. -

Read More The stove and java press are great. As stated by another reviewer, I would recommend getting your coffee ground course in order to minimize grounds in your coffee. The stove boils quickly and is very easy to setup. I also like that everything installs in the cup to pack away. I even purchased the pan support, and that fits in there with everything else. Great engineering. Got it on sale for cheaper than the price of the Jetboil without the coffee press. -

Read More I used this on a 10 day camping/hiking trip to glacier national park. This jetboil is the perfect size, to bring along backcountry hikes. The coffee comes with, travel size. And the French press works great, and all the prices fit inside the jetboil, so nothing takes up extra room. Coffee every morning was a big hit with the group I went with, especially fresh from a fresh press, that's fancy backcountry camping! This jet boil also works very efficiently like a regular jetboil, for fast dinners after a long hiking day. Everybody on the trip loved it! It's a perfect addition to your camping needs! -

Read More This was my first experience with a backpacking stove--I'm glad I did my research and went with Jetboil. I got this version for the coffee press (it was cheaper than buying them separately). Cooked for two days, both using the Jetboil pot and my own mess kit. This thing boils water faster than I ever thought possible for all the freeze-dried meals. I made coffee for myself and my son on both mornings. Four cups and four tbl spoons of coffee (which it comes with). Keep an eye on it or it will boil over--not surprising since 4 cups takes you WAY past the max fill line. Yes, there were some grounds in the last cup, but no worse than a stove top perk style coffee pot. Hold the plunger down while pouring and it works fine. I made pancakes one morning using a small 8" fry pan--you have to purchase the pot ring separately. It worked great. You have to keep the pan moving around a bit to get even heating, but it will definitely do the trick. Next time, I'm doing real bacon and real eggs. Everything, including the fuel canister, pot ring and coffee press fits in the pot--it's light weight and easy to pack away. I put mine in a zippered outside pocket on my pack. -

Read More BLUF: Changed my life. Longer story: As a guy, I didn't read the instructions. I just hooked it up and made coffee. From the packaging to two cups of delicious coffee was about 5 minutes max. Now that I'm good at it, I can have it made it 3 minutes. of course you can take more time with the press. I'm in the Army, so any coffee is good coffee. You can use the burner for anything, limited by imagination. The cup is a little bulky for those wanting to pack light but again...coffee! I usually carry 40 pounds ish when on the trail and this doesn't change the way I pack. Several reviews complained about coffee grinds. 1. You're always going to have some (don't you want a little?) and 2. I found that using fine coffee from the store, I didn't get that much and the little I did have was on the bottom of the cup. Get over it. -

Read More I ordered this system after researching and reading many reviews of many different models. Not to mention I found this unit on sale on REI's website! I am extremely pleased with this purchase and can't wait to use it on a trip! The entire system (with a full fuel canister) weighs in at 1 pound 7 ounces. This does not include the bag of coffee which comes with it. Everything fits inside the main cup! I was able to bring a little over 2 cups of water (68 degrees) to a boil in about 2 minutes 45 seconds. I would have to believe that a small 100g fuel container will last a few trips! Very compact, lightweight and efficient!!!
