Read More Product was several years old release and the version of Base Camp on the DVD did nothing to install the maps on my GPS. Had to use the Tech support to know to down load the current Base Camp program to install the maps on my GPS. They should have replace the DVD with a new version of Base camp. For the price it was a lot of trouble. The tech support work with me for a long time to fix it. -

Read More I hardly ever give a bad review on a product BUT this is my first. The maps on this DVD show almost no usable detail until you zoom in so far that the screen shot on the computer and the area I want to print maps of only covers a mile or two at most. I love Garmin's 1:24 topo chip sets but this DVD is the worst and I am going to see if REI will take it back. To get printed maps with real usable data I would have to print 5 or 6 maps ( on standard computer printer paper ) just to cover a 5 square mile area. It seems to be poor software design IMHO. Maybe they are just trying to cover too much area ( 3 states ) on one DVD and I was wanting to be able to at least cover a 10 or even 5 square area with all details on one sheet of computer paper. -

Read More Moving to Colorado where I'll be in an area with tons of recreation, i'd need a plethora of special use maps. I use this with my Etrex all the time. For rad mountain biking, i keep teh GPS in my pocket. For XC I mount it to my bike. There are tons of trails around here, and there's noting worse than having to stop the fun to orient yourself to figure out where to go. When I load up these maps on my GPS and have the route loaded, we just have fun. These are great maps and I've not seen any errors. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the area, don't want to deal with manual triangulation of map lap, get these. I'm old school and grew up using manual bearings and triangulation, but this makes it super easy and fun with no worry. As a word of warning, make sure that you are still able to do manual orienteering, triangulation, and bearings. GPS is electronic and there's no guarantee it will work all the time. If I'm in the big back country, I'll still have a topo and a compass, which is extra weight, but still a piece of mine. -

Read More !!!!!!!!!STOP SELLING THIS SOFTWARE!!!!!! BaseCamp software will only write waypoints and routes to a GPS device once. After that it displays the error message: "There was a problem communicating with the Garmin device." Then sure enough you can not download anything else to the GPS device. I have tried two different GPSs, the etrax 30 and the GPSMAP 62 and have found the same result. BaseCamp also crashes a lot. It consumes all available memory, hangs then crashes especially if you give it multiple clicks; e.g., enlarging a map. If you bring up the task manager you can watch the memory usage. Note I am running Windows 7, 32 bit OS. And yes I downloaded the latest versions for both GPS and BaseCamp. If you google the error message you will see a lot of complaints but no solutions. I have talked to the people in the Salt Lake Store and they have no knowledge of the problem. !!!!!!!!!STOP SELLING THIS SOFTWARE!!!!!! -

Read More Software installs easily, nice interface with Garmin GPS units. Software is fairly easy to use. Resolution is very good (not quite as good as the NG topos but for the people who adventure in several states, this is the way to go). The only negative is the time it takes to transfer maps to the GPS unit. Make sure you allow several hours if you are transferring a lot of data. -
