Read More So I got this and the S2S pocket shaving soap to try and see if either would earn a place in my pack. I used each on half of my face to see which one, if any, was better This shaving cream is decent, but there are better products out there. It is easy and you only need a little more than what the bottle says. When I first applied this cream I could feel my skin tingling, though it was not too bad. if you have sensitive skin read no further and look elsewhere. The cream does a good job lubricating and the shave is good enough for the backcountry. IT does leave a gooey/sticky feeling on your face afterwords that you would want to wash off thoroughly, which might be a little harder in the backcountry. Of the two choices you have here at REI this is your best bet though there are better choices on the market. I would recommend this but try it first before you commit to a trip down the trail with it. -

I wouldn't use it at home but it works on the road and gets through TSA with carry-on luggage. One bottle would be good (for me) for about 2 months of daily shaving. -

Read More When I saw the great variation in reports I could not resist adding my two cents. I tried this and it works so well that now it is my daily shaving cream. It takes only a tiny dollop and lubricates either the electric or the standard razor just fine. At the end, I don't rinse and only wipe off with a towel. Ephemeral, if any, tingling. No discomfort. Travels very well. Give it a try! If you don't like it, send it to me for no refund! -

Read More I've been shaving on a daily basis for several decades. During the last several years I've used a double-sided razor (aka safety razor). For the safety razor I've tried several types of oils, soaps, creams and brands with varying results, but none perform as poorly as this 'cream'. The compound acts like soap, which results in the razor catching, then slipping, over and over. I've tried up to a heaping quarter-size amount of the cream with poor results each time. I actually get better results using only water than with this compound. I do live in an area with hard, mineralized water so you may get better results with soft or treated water, but would you have that while camping? As for cost, with the amount I needed to get a lather I expect this compound to last maybe a month. REI asks that we not include pricing info, so I won't cover my pricing analysis except to say that over 4 months of use it would cost several cents more per use than my top-brand shaving cream. Ingredients: Water, Lauric Acid, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, C12-13 Alkyl Lactate, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Fragrance, DMDM Hydantoin, Menthol, Cl 19140, Cl 14700 -

Read More In the past I tried using Camp Suds as a travel shaving cream but it didn't lather well. While this product is really only for shaving it produces much better lubrication with only a small amount needed per day. It does leave a mild irritation afterward but that goes away within ten minutes. -

Read More I used this lathering up with a shaving brush. Ouch! It left my skin irritated and the amount you have to shave with is the same as any other shaving cream out there. It barely protected my skin. Even Travel Sized Gillette or Barbasol shaving cream in a pressurized can is better than this, and they're pretty bad. Maybe it's trying to merge after shave into shaving cream, I don't know. -

Read More I bought this for a trip where toiletries needed to be biodegradable. Unfortunately, every time I used this product to shave, my face stung for an hour afterwards. Even aloe vera gel didn't help. I gave up and shaved with only water for the second half of my trip and that was much better. Maybe I have discovered I have sensitive skin or an ingredient in the cream had a reaction with me. Try before you go!
Read More This lathers better than other liquid shaving soap I've used but is does not lather as well as aerosol canned Barbasol I use at home. The canned stuff is too bulky for travel. I enjoy the tingle and it travels well. I'm purchasing another bottle.
