Read More Despite other reviews to the contrary, I experienced no issues with residual soap clumping in my hair. I have very short hair, however, and I could see that folks with longer hair might have a very different experience. Two leaves created a sufficient lather to adequately shampoo my hair and scalp. The other reviews of this product are several years old, and I wonder if the variance in the product's performance may be due to a redesign of the formula or something of that nature. -

Read More The idea of these is great. Simple, lightweight, no leaking, etc. but unfortunately they were unusable. I took these on a 12 day backpacking trip as my shampoo and ended up using the liquid shampoo (camp suds) from the shared gear. Both times I tried them, I put a few of the "papers" in my hand, added water and tried to work into a lather. But it didn't really work and ended up with sticky blobs. Maybe I just didn't use them correctly but based on this experience I would not recommend them. (Lesson learned: try ALL your gear out before taking it with you) -

Read More I tried this out in the shower at home before I head to Iceland later this spring, and it was worthless. Just as previous reviewers have indicated, it simply does NOT work. I gave up trying to get a lather going after using several sheets. The lather never happened. As a matter of fact, nothing ever happened. Disappointed that this is being carried by REI, because I'm not used to buying stuff there that is completely ineffective. Save your money & time: DON'T buy this! -

Read More This product leaves clumps in my hair after washing. Where there aren't clumps you will find a horrible filmy buildup. I have tried a similar product that is just shampoo, and that works much better. At least the just shampoo product washes your hair. I'll be traveling to Peru with just the shampoo product. I tried this combo product for a little conditioning, but was not impressed. -

Read More I took these on a backpacking trip across Spain where I had access to showers, but still had to carry everything I needed. When I got the leaves out in the shower, the others stuck together, so I ended up with a large clump of useless goo. I also had the problem of them clumping in my hair - and I was pulling little bits of shampoo leaves out of my hair the whole trip. Not to mention, my hair never felt clean. I didn't expect them to replace normal shampoo, but I wasn't happy with the way they worked, overall. -

Read More I recently bought this in preparation for a backpacking trip to India and really wanted to like this... The concept is a great one, but the product just doesn't work. As other reviewers have said, it isn't easy to get just one sheet out in the shower, & unfortunately, it takes a lot more than one sheet to wash your hair. Frankly, I'm not sure how many sheets it takes because I gave up after a few and used the shampoo that the hotel supplied because with hot water being at a premium in India, I didn't have the time to fool around with the sheets & trying to get a lather! These may work for guys with a military haircut, but good luck to anyone with more hair than that. (I have short hair, btw.) -

Read More Bought for rafting trip. Didn't dispense as wafers but in one big piece. Did not disolve in the cold water in river nor, later, in a shower. Left big clumps of shampoo in my hair that I had to comb out. Had to heat water on the campfire to completely get it out. Horrible stuff!
Read More Like the other reviewer from 2015, I also had good luck with this product, and wonder if Sea to Summit changed their formula from back a few years ago when so many folks had bad luck with it. I'm a lady with thick, shoulder length hair and I found that four leaves worked just fine for nice, clean, easily combed-thru hair. I just put all four of them them in my cupped hand, added a little water from the running shower, and mashed them into a thick sort of paste, which then squooshed and spread out just fine into my hair and scalp. Rinsed clean, with no clumps and no icky buildup. It doesn't make a huge pile of foamy goodness like my shampoo at home, but for camping, less foaminess is probably a good thing. It has worked fine for me on shorter backpacking trips, and it's going to Patagonia with me for a six weeker here in about a week. My confidence is high...I'll update if something goes horribly wrong, though. Please note, I haven't tried this in saltwater yet, but all freshwater trials have worked great. Don't let the older reviews scare you off, but definitely try it at home before you take it out camping anywhere (just like everything else!) :)
