As weight really mattered for this epic backpacking trip, we bought the smaller MSR Fuel Bottle and then had a friend bring the larger bottle to fill up mid-trip. It was light weight and a perfect amount of fuel storage for daily use. Highly recommend this product as it is durable and convenient for backpackers.

Many of the locations that I have traveled too ALSO don't sell compressed gas. This has left me numerous times looking down at my stock pile of dehydrated food packs and no means to heat water to eat them...mmmmm crunchy... So recently i converted to the whisper light series using these handy bottles to carry fuel. No need to worry about fly ( just empty the bottles first) and refilling ( as long as theres a gas station somewhere). Happy Adventuring !!

Read More I bought my first MSR stove (an XGK) and an 11 oz. bottle some 17 years ago, Later, I decided that I wanted the simmering capabilities of the Dragonfly, so I bought a second 11 oz. bottle with it. I carry both stoves and bottles for airplane camping or vehicle camping, but just the Dragonfly and one bottle when backpacking, to reduce weight. Most of my cooking is on the Dragonfly. One bottle is good for about 5 days of solo cooking. Neither bottle has ever leaked. So when I bought a scooter, which has a pretty small gas tank, I decided that I needed a good, reliable reserve gas can--what better than a 30 oz. MSR bottle? Large enough to provide additional range, small enough to stow in the "trunk" of the scooter. I've now had the scooter and that bottle for 8 years, and again, it's never leaked. Periodically I dump the fuel from it into the scooter and refill it with fresh gasoline. I've never needed to use it, but with the normal mpg of my scooter, it would take me another 12 miles pretty easily.
