Read More Bought the GPS a little while back and figured out the topo maps were what I needed to make the unit complete. Used it on a hike in the local mountains and it worked just as advertised. Can't wait to get up to the Sierras to give it a REAL testing.
Read More i purchased this map to go along with my oregon 450. i took it on a test hike up to Ontario Peak here in So. Cal and i was very disappointed. when i reached the peak the map showed that i still had around 200 feet to go, which would have put me off the cliff. since the map also has street functionality, when i arrived at my house i pulled up my address and even though i was standing on my front porch, it showed that i was 179 feet away. i don't expect maps and gps devices to be spot on accurate but 200 feet seems a little loss. Being an evening & early morning trekker, i dread the idea of having a product this inaccurate guide me. so the question now becomes how to use the product. Well if it is not reasonably accurate the only possibility would be as a general reference guide. but if you want to track your route, analyze your elevation gain/loss, even check your pace in a certain location then the actuality of where you are and where the maps says you are make this product, in my humble opinion, worthless.
