Read More I used this to mount a phone to my windshield so it could see it when using maps and to keep it easily accessible when I need to make a call. The one positive thing is that it's cheap, but looking after the fact, it's bottom of the barrel, on par with a lot of other low end products. I returned this after I purchased another product that I'm extremely satisfied with (and I wish REI sold). The first day in my (very clean) car, it fell off. Then again and again. The glass was cleaned and didn't help. The final click on the latch doesn't stay. Unsafe when the entire assembly (phone and all falls off driving down the road and it's by my feet). I mounted it low so it wouldn't interfere with my field of view, but on back country dirt roads, my phone was bouncing off of my dash as the thing moves excessively. On the highway it was fine and didn't bounce around much. The ratchet mechanism to open the bracket didn't function well. Some presses did nothing. Had to press repeatedly to get it to open. The left wing would never stay spread open to run my cable through. Poking the cable through the opening after the phone is in the bracket is futile. The foam compresses to hold the phone in place, but trying to tap an icon at the edge of the display isn't as easy as it should be as the phone is recessed and the foam gets in the way. The bracket attaches onto the "arm" with a keyhole attachment. I've had the bracket come off when I'm trying to take the phone off. I bought this without any other product knowledge, but one of my teammates suggested another product. The product I purchased to replace this was more costly, but everything is accessible, it's much easier to use, and it's super stable. If I get into a SAR rig to run into the back country, I want to throw my phone or GPS on the glass and I want it to be solid. I have come to expect good quality products from REI. REI Staff, Would you look at Ram Mounts and perhaps carry their product? They have kayak mounts, bicycle mounts, ATV mounts, boat mounts for us Outdoor Enthusiasts. -

It works fine after you learn how to place the smart phone in the craddle and you close the jaws so they are tight and angle the craddle back a little. The only drawbck is it is a little bit difficult to attach the suction cup to the windshield, make sure you do it whenyou are stopped and take your time or it will fall down when you least want it to. -

Read More When my GPS until failed instead of buying a new one I've been using my Droid phone. I needed a way to mount it to my windshield similar to my GPS and came across this. It works great! Suction cup holds well. I particularly like the ability to easily twist it from portrait to landscape and back. Nice for switching between different features on my phone (like if I'm also using it to play music). Arm is a little stiff but once it's adjusted it you're good to go with little appreciable vibrations. -

I almost spent $120 on the Garmin, or Tom Tom mount, but this worked great. I've had great reception with my GPS, with the mount in the lower left corner of my windshield in my 2006 A4. It can hug some pretty big cases, I have an iskin REVO3, and from what it looks like, it might even fit an ottorbox on it. It does rotate 360 degrees, and the arm is very strong, I am also surprised how well the suction works. -

Read More This does the trick - and does not cost $60++ at [...] and the rest of the rip offs. Plus, available local - I could not find this outside of the web. I needed to mount my iPhone to use GPS - and, have it easy to click on the road when someone calls - links via Bluetooth to a Jabra 7100 visor speaker (great!!!). The Bracketron is sturdy and flexible, without too much flexibility. I have it on my windshield now - but ordered some adhesive disks - will put one on the dash and the second somewhere down below. That way the Bracketron off the windshield, but still usable.
