Read More Use this clothing detergent every time I wash my "high tech" hiking clothing, etc. Had an opportunity to use it washing my REI Elements rain jacket and pants. It removes all odors, and my clothes are nice and clean. Wore my REI Elements rain jacket and pants on a day when it was too warm to wear them, and I was thankful this sport wash worked as advertised - all odors gone. It does help retain / restore water repellancy, as the REI Elements jacket and rain pants still shed rain and snow like new. Uncertain about collar and sleeve end built-in grime. Guess if that might be a problem, perhaps first using a special "pre-wash stubborn-stain scrub" cleaner and then thoroughly rinsing those areas out before throwing the item in with the rest of the clothing would help. Then the pre-wash would not interfere with the chemical balance in the sport wash. So far this product has worked just fine and I am happy with it. -
Jan 13, 2008must have if you travelon the road runner, must have. gets rid of the odor. won't get rid of ring-round-the-collar on whites. but you don't stink !!!

Read More ...but I won't likely be buying it again. I'm glad Penguin Sport Wash is made in this size - it's a great way to try it out. It's also handy for travel. I felt my clothes were clean with the product, but there seemed to be some kind of residual scent to this product. I've used Sport Suds powder for a while now and after hanging up my clothes using that product I don't notice any scent whatsoever as I walk by them as they dry. Each time I walk by them as they were drying using Penguin Sport Wash I noticed a scent to it that I can't really describe, but was quite noticeably there. Nothing awful, but not what I'd entirely describe as a scent-free product. This product in the larger sizes is more economical than the product I've been using, but the scent part will have me continuing with that particular product. I'll certainly use the packets I have left over, perhaps in the summer when I can dry my clothes outside for a bit more airing out. My answer to "Would I recommend this to a friend" would be "It'll do the job, but there's a product I like quite a bit better." I am glad I tried it though.
