Rhythmic movements and fancy footwork
Shiva Rea is a really wonderful yogi. She focuses a lot on the meditative and then adds fluid movements to really get you moving. This video was hard for me to keep up with at first, the flow was quick and some of the poses, which she uses the original yoga words for don't come naturally to me. I love the options available through the yoga matrix. You can choose one of six pre-set exercises for backbends, lunar flow, meditation, flexibility and a few more. She's very calm in her approach and sometimes spiritual. A few of the poses I have trouble with, like the hand stand, but that is only presented in one or two of the set practices, and it has been something I have had to work toward in my journey. All her DVDs offer great scenery, a very challenging workout but definitely doable even for the beginner. She offers counter poses for your level of practice. All the flexibility flow that she does is to open up your spine and to really loosen your body. I don't like doing this DVD in front of other people, it's very personal to me and I feel vulnerable during the poses, so in order to avoid any awkwardness, I just do this when I'm alone or know I won't be disturbed.
