My guess is there are other great shoes out there, but this is the shoe I know works for me. I am grateful to Merrell that they have kept this model on the market for such a long time. -

Read More They are super comfortable right out of the box. In fact, the only dang boots I can wear since they come in a wide. Good traction. Only downside is they don't last (I hike 6 days a week for an hour and am lucky to get 4 months out of them). Still, they are my only option at this point in a low top. I am on my 15th or so pair! I still give them 5 stars but if they would last longer........ -

Jan 22, 2016Great fit & comfortI really like the fit and comfort but after 3 Ventilators the fabric on the inside of the heal wears out after a year of daily 2 mile dog walks on jeep trails.

Read More I bought these a few weeks before a trip to Peru. The highlight objectives of the trip were Machu Picchu and hiking the famously treacherous Huanya Picchu mountain adjacent to the ruins. The weather can turn in an instant there so I wanted a hiking type shoe with good grip but also look good enough for everyday use and even wear to a nice restaurant while traveling. I wore the shoes almost everyday prior to departure in an effort to break them in a bit before the trip. During this time the laces would annoyingly become untied several times over the course of the day, but during the whole trip the laces stayed tied. Hmmmm. These were the only shoes I brought for 12 days in Peru and they worked well for touring, shopping, walking, flying, hiking, dining, everything! Ever since returning from the trip I have become obsessed with the one bagger concept, which these shoes would be great for. With such great versatility and looks these shoes would be the only pair I would need to bring, cutting down and weight and especially bulk. -
