Read More I got the 2.8L last summer for a trip for 4 in the Apostle Islands. We also took a Snow Peak Titanium to speed up meal time. This boiled 2L twice faster than the other did 1L, with mild wind. The only problem is the weak plastic lid cracked on the maiden hike, although remailed functional. I contacted MSR upon return and a new lid was at my door in 2 days. Review lost half a star on the lid but gained it back with customer service.

Read More I used this on a snowshoe trip and I was a little dissapointed until I got more accustomed to using this product. You can't sent your fuel can in the snow and expect this to work. Once we corrected that error we had snow melting in no time. This item is a breeze to set up and boils like the best of them.

Read More Amazing stove, works in all conditions and seasons, very reliable. Start without any pb even if the (winter) gas canister spend the entire night at -10C. Amazing in winter to melt snow, cooking requires a bit of fine tuning. In the summer time, to cook pastas or rice, you need to: - boil the water - put the pastas in - wait a few seconds for the water to boil again - cut the stove and wait 3 min - start the stove again and wait for the water to boil again - cut the stove and wait 3 min - start the stove again and wait for the water to boil again - cut the stove and wait 3 min - start the stove again and wait for the water to boil again - Done ! Seems tricky and annoying but you get use to it (and you'll burn the pastas if you don't ;-)). Or you can cook couscous and not bother. And you use such a small amount of gas ! Last summer, with 4 people, we lasted 4 days on a standard gas canister, cooking breakfast, lunch and diner! ccl: it's a really nice system.

Read More I have used the reactor stove system for the past two years and have fallen totally in love with its ease of use, efficiency, and light weight. In 1974 I purchased an MSR Model 9 stove. This stove revolutionized outdoor stoves in its reliability, ease of use, and flexibility in using different fuels. Over the years I have demo-ed many other stove brands but have always owned and used MSR stoves. MSR stoves have always proven to me to be far superior in both summer and winter outdoor experiences. The reactor system has converted me to using propane fuel in its much lighter weight and the efficiency of propane fuel canisters versus liters of other fuels. Combined with the Reactor Stove and the Reactor cook pots, MSR has given us an incredibly efficient and lightweight cooking system for all aspects of outdoor adventures. Thank you.

Read More I research a ton of stuff before buying. This actually met or exceeded my expectations. Boils water like a champ. Side by side with my old canister stove this thing put the old stove to shame. This boiled ~1 liter water in ~2 min, whereas my old stove took 10+ min. My wife was skeptical, but took it on a wintery trip into the Grand Canyon with 4 other stoves. The other stoves couldn't keep up, and they ended up only using this stove. I've loaned it to friends and they all were blown away and impressed. They were all skeptical of how good it is, until they tried it. Now they all want to borrow it for their trips.

Read More I bought the Reactor after experiencing it with friends on a couple of snow camping trips in the Cascades as well as some spring/summer trips. The efficiency in boiling and melting snow is amazing. It's light, robust, and easy to use. I also have a Jetboil Flash, which works well but the boil time in my experience is much longer than the Reactor. I would consider my small volume Flash for solo trips in the summer but for snow camping, the Reactor is essential.
