Read More I've been using this chain for the last 3 or 4 years. It's easy to get on and off thanks to the master link (put purchasing the master link tool isn't a bad idea) and is pretty durable. Of course that depends on how well you maintain it. I get about 5000 miles before I have to think about changing it, I usually change it out every spring. It shifts about as well as any other chain but of course that depends on how precisely you have everything adjusted. I think it's a great value too. -

Read More The SRAM PC-971 is the chain to buy if you need a 9-speed chain. The SRAM link makes the chain very easy to install and remove. Forget the Shimano method of pressing in a special pin and breaking it off; the SRAM link is better and simpler. No need to spend any more, this chain is great. Don't spend extra for chains with hollow pins or slots cut in the links. You'll save only a few grams, and pay a lot more. This chain has nickel-plated outer links and unplated inner links. -

Read More Both my recent bikes had basic Shimano chains and as soon as it came to clean the chains for the first time, I bought a SRAM PC-971. The Powerlink is tremendously useful. Will never consider a Shimano chain again until they start using a similar system. Chain is very smooth. The sticky goo on it is apparently some kind of lubricant, so don't bother trying to wipe it off. Works great right out of the box. Weight is probably on par with every other mid-field chain.
Read More This chain lasted for 400 miles in Georgia soil, it just ripped on me. It's pins were worn even though being regularly cleaned and lubricated. I had same chain before and it lasted in same conditions and with same maintenance for 1200miles when I decided to upgrade (it didn't ripped) my drivetrain with new cassete and chainrings.
