Read More Used this to waterproof a poncho that I just made, and a tarp I will be using over my hammock when I camp. Two complaints: 1) The directions telling you to spray, then wipe off are wasteful. Tip to avoid this below. 2) The straw in the bottle doesn't even reach the bottom, and the top of the sprayer does not unscrew. I had to poke a hole into the bottle with a knife to squeeze out what was left. For anyone using this product, here is a tip that will save a TON of the liquid you purchase. Their directions mention "spray 6 inches away from product evenly, wait two minutes, wipe off with a damp cloth." The extra nikwax will be absorbed by the cloth, and will ultimately go to waste. Here is what you do: You spray the product on a section of the item you are waterproofing. Grab a plastic bag, fit it over your hand, and spread the product evenly with the bag until all of it is absorbed. Repeat until entire garment is covered evenly and effectively, with no waste. I have not yet tested to see if this product waterproofs well, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt. Two stars for the flawed bottle and instructions. Although I have not used the wash-in before, I imagine it would work better than the spray. Get that instead. -

I washed it first in the special pre-treatment detergent and once ready, carefully applied a full bottle to one jacket, soaking every seam and every inch. Leaked just as it had before all the hullabaloo. Disappointed. -

Read More I bought this to apply to my snowboarding pants and gloves as they desperately needed to be waterproofed after years of use and washing. However, the spray method only worked well on the gloves, but wasn't so great on the pants. The spray provided uneven coverage on the large surface area of the pants. Overall, it's good for your gloves and smaller items, not so great for jackets and pants. -

Read More Believing the specs, I applied nearly an entire bottle to my trusty old Columbia Titanium jacket, hoping it'd keep me warm and dry one more season. EH! Wrong! The water, and cold, came right through. IMHO, this product blows. (P.S. I even laundered my jacket with one of those special pre-wash products.) Double waste. Be warned. -

Read More Followed directions completely and only got two jackets out of this bottle. Had to hang outside for a couple days before the smell diminished enough to wear without a headache. Rain drops started to soak in after about an hour, and to add insult... the smell came back. Might try the wash in, I really like my old jacket. -

Read More I followed the directions to the letter. Washed items with their special wash, too. Applied it to snowboarding gloves, pants and to my rei "waterproof" jacket. Gloves stayed wet, jacket stayed dry for about 2 hours on a hike by Mt St Helens before succumbing to the rain and the pants lasted a day on Mt Hood before they started to soak up the water. God bless high limit credit cards and Gore-Tex Pro Shell because this stuff failed and i upgraded all my stuff so i wouldnt ever be tempted to try it again.
Read More Spray bottle does not spray evenly it seems to spray in drops, streams and spittle out of the nozzle not come out in a fine mist. I would have designed it in a gas discharged container like an aerosol can where it can cover a 160 degree field. The small container here is great for spraying your orchids at home but for your waterproof gear.......uuuh NO.
