Read More The bottoms of my feet get sore after about 10 miles--these insoles stop that. I also do not have to use my orthotics in my shoes while backpacking because the arch support of these insoles is so good. I have been using them for hundreds of miles and I automatically replace the standard insole in my hiking shoe with this custom footbed. -

Read More I bought these almost 3 years ago to put mountaineering boots for a 14,000ft glacial climb where I neeed great support while carrying a 40lb pack. I also wanted something I could use afterwards and put in my casual shoes or workout shoes and these fit the bill. They might be advertised as "HIGH VOLUME" but I would say they're medium large in terms of volume becuase you CAN squeeze them in medium volume shoes. They fit in my casual nike and reebok shoes a little snuggly, but they do fit. In terms of performance, they were extremely comfortable in my massively clunky plastic mountaineering boots and provided just enough warmth (if you need more extreme warmth SOLE does make another option). Overall, the padding was superior compared to all the other brands I tested and the high arch and firm rigid shape has lasted for years from daily wear. I'm sure I should replace them but they're still working great, never any arch pain. I also have the Sole Softec Response insoles for my workout shoes since they're very thin and have fit in to smaller volume shoes. Both of them are highly recommended for great arch support and durability. Superfeet makes a decent product but the arch doesnt match up for me and even so, the quality of Sole insoles is much superior. -

Read More I have been very satisfied with this insert, truth be told I was sceptical, the insert is out lasting my shoes. My feet are in bad shape, this insert really helps to relive my foot pain and discomfort. I put 10k-13k a day on this insert. After years of using the "top" orthotic inserts for Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendonitis I found this one and I am a happy man. It took over two months before I felt the relief in my feet. -
May 25, 2015Nice solid feel in my bootsI was looking forward to adding some strength to my boots. These did a good job. They were a little think near the toe, but the rest of it is solid!

Read More I started using these due to sesamoiditis (pain of ball of foot). The arches helped take the pressure off the foot. It was not enough to cure the foot pain, and I wound up going to one of the finest foot doctors in the northeast. He looked at the bottom of the orthotic and said, "this is a good orthotic." Then he felt the padding on the top and said, "This is very good. Did you get these at REI?" I am not kidding, this is what he said, which is why I felt compelled to write the review. He did tell me to get an actual orthotic made due to the severity of my condition, but these ones are quite good, especially for the price. I should have been using an inner sole like this Sole Viesters from the get-go or my foot problem would not have developed. So even if you don't have foot problems, don't get them, and spend the $45 for these inner soles. Even one of the finest foot doctors in the northeast said they are very good. As for the inner sole itself, it has plenty of cushion and a firm bottom. You can put them in the oven, but even after you will still feel heavy arch support - it takes time for them to break down, but they do after a couple of weeks. I would just take light walks the first few days. For any serious hiker/walker, these are must buy. Great product. -

Read More I bought these soles to use on my hiking boots, and after a couple of 15 miles hikes I can tell they make a lot of difference on the way I walk. I went back to the store and bought a second pair with the dividends I got this year ( 27.50) plus a 20 dollars coupon I had last month; I use the second pair on my working shoes and I am telling you, is the best article I have bought from REI so far
