I ended up getting blisters every time after long hikes since the socks were too big and had to rearrange them a couple times per hike to try and stay comfortable. -

Read More I have worn Thorlos for years, and these REI replacements are adequate but not up to Thorlo standards. Bought three pair of men's large, and the uppers are all a little bit different in length; none have the standard Thorlo upper length. The foot pads inside the socks are not as comfortable as the Thorlos either. Would I recommend these? Yes, to one who has not worn the Thorlos. I was somewhat disappointed in my purchase but would buy again if unable to find Thorlos.. -

Read More I normally pay top dollar for socks that offer great support and comfort through the day, and last a long time, so I was interested to try these out. Merino wool has been the material I seem to be the happiest with. I ordered six pairs of these online, sight unseen, based on the reviews. I've now been wearing them for two weeks, and don't think they're up to snuff with the other Merino wool socks on the market, which I have also always purchased from REI. I bought these because the brand I preferred are no longer available at REI. In my personal opinion, these socks feel too thin, and I can almost guarantee that they will wear out much quicker than the other ones I've worn, but time will tell. They did not feel amazing when I first pulled them on, which is a first for this kind of sock in my experience. They are definitely a step up from basic cotton socks, but I'm skeptical that they are worth the price tag. It likely comes down to a matter of personal preference, but I will definitely be trying socks on in the store next time before a purchase like this. I suggest trying these on in the store before purchasing. -

Aug 22, 2014Comfortable, even in summerThese are great for when you want comfort while wearing short and low topper hiking shoes. Have only worn them a half-dozen times, so yet to determine how long they hold up.

Read More I have been using these for both short hikes and longer backpacking trips during the summer months, and I was worried at first that my feet might heat up too much being in a heavier boot with a wool-type sock on. However, this was not the case! My feet felt fine, and the merino wool wicks the moisture away from the foot very well. They dry quickly in the sunlight, the material feels very durable, and the sock comes up high enough above the ankle support of my boot where I don't have to worry about any chaffing on the lower calf/shin. I will likely give the taller version of these a try in my hockey skates and snowboarding boots this coming winter!
