Mar 30, 2016Must have accessoryI can't believe the noise reduction this product provided. It also helped increase my miles per gallon. I would encourage anyone to try this.

Read More This fairing is a must have item with the Yakima round bar racks. It is incredible to see how much of a difference this rack makes by eliminating all the turbulent noise and drag produced by the round bars. Plus they definitely add some aesthetic appeal to the rack system. However, within the first week i returned the fairing do to the white painted emblem already flaking off. The new one did the same exact thing within a week. Its not a big deal, BUT being that all Yakima accessories are so expensive I expect them to look new for a little longer than that. Also the little adhesive backed foot pads that sit against the roof don't last very long before they start giving out and the pads separate from the adhesive strip. I love Yakima accessories, and this fairing is great, but I feel for the top dollar pricing the product needs a little more "tweaking". -

Read More I have two steelhead bike mounts inside two shark saddle sets. Noise and mileage were the concerns. Even with all that on there, I had to move two of the saddles an inch closer, and the whole thing went on in about 5 minutes. Piece of cake. Daily commute gained 3 MPG from 33 to 36. This will pay for itself in one season of hauling. -
Jan 30, 2014Quiet at lastVery easy to install; love the instant quiet it gave for the racks that were otherwise incredibly loud at highway speeds. Amazing difference.

Read More I bought this fairing to reduce or eliminate wind noise from my Yakima rack which is installed on my 2011 4Runner. It was very easy to install without any tools and it works like a charm... little if any wind noise and it looks awesome. If you have a vented sunroof, I would recommend mounting the rack and fairing as far back as possible. My first position (close to the sunroof) actually forced air back into the sunroof instead of letting it vent naturally. This is not desirable during the summer in the AZ desert heat! After I slid the rack and fairing towards the back, the problem went away. One note of caution, I would recommend removing the fairing before going through an automated carwash. The first time I went through a carwash with the fairing installed, the industrial blowers at the end of the car wash nearly snapped it off. Fortunately, it is very easy to remove and reinstall. Good investment all around. -

I put this fairing on expecting improvement, but it sounded like the 65 mph noise from 15 mph up to 80 mph. I guess it eliminated the variability of the noise, but definitely did not do what I was expecting -

Read More I was told this would cut down wind noise. Unfortunately they sales associate wasn't aware it can't be used with a Skybox, which is the only reason I purchased the rack. The worst part is the only way to have found this out was to put the whole thing together and when I go to put the box on....what a waste of time. Without it the rack does generate quite a bit of noise. I should have stuck with the Thule.
