Read More My buddy has a jet boil and my brother has a nice snow peak both are excellent stoves in their own right but neither of them are as cool as this one. This was my first alcohol stove and I will admit I struggled getting the right fuel (Use the yellow Heet not the red – Very important!) and then I struggled with the wind issue so the first couple times I took it out it seemed like a dud but that had more to do with me than the stove. It’s turned out to be a really effective little stove though. Comes with a pot, a non-stick skillet, and a handle. You could fry a small trout in this if you wanted to. For the price it’s a great stove and the alcohol comes in handy. Case in point, last time I went out with my g/f I was going to impress her by starting the camp fire with my flint – well once my hand started getting tired and when she wasn’t looking a threw just a tiny amount of alcohol on there and next thing you know I look like Les freakin Stroud. -

Read More The stove itself is brilliant. It is small and is self contained with the bonus that it stores its own fuel. As far as the cook set and holder that comes with it, I'd ditch them as the weight too much for lightweight backpacking. What I advise is to get a snowpeak titanium cookset and a Vargo Titanium wood stove (which doubles as a pot stand and wind screen). The reason this setup works so well is that you can use wood as fuel for the Vargo wood stove and when you can't use natural fuel you switch to the Trangia fire. Works wonders. -

Read More It's light weight and doesn't take up a lot of room in the pack. It takes just a few minutes to boil water and at max heat it burns about 1oz of alcohol every ten minutes which equates to a little more than 30mins total cook time before needing to refill. Easy to light even on really cold outings. Temp control isn't the greatest - especially on windy days to which a wind screen would help. But for boiling water, heating up soup/stew, cooking rice and noodle based dishes, I really like and highly recommend this stove. -

Read More I bought this to use for solo car camping or backpacking. It works great and prepared meals for 2 of us quite easily. It's lightweight and easy to light. However, it is challenging to adjust the temperature. I needed a wind screen and will use one in the future with this stove. It is the only one I've ever used as I am new to camping and backpacking so I don't have any other stove experiences to compare this one to yet. I love it! -

Read More The Trangia replaced my Jetboil. I was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with using propane, but wanted a light weight stove. I read alot of reviews before I settled on this one. The mini-Trangia is a scaled down version of their more popular stoves. I wanted something small so as not to take up too much room in my pack. This unit works perfectly. It comes with a no nonsense brass alcohol burner that is completely fool proof. No moving parts so no worries that it will fail in the backwoods. Just pour in alcohol and light. Water boils in under five minutes. Very happy I made the switch!! -

Read More This is a great stove and is perfect for heating/boiling water for tea, coffee, pasta, MRE's, dehydrated meals, etc. I've had this stove for 2 months and have used it many times now. One thing I was worried about was efficiency at altitude and wind. The efficieny at altitude is just fine (used it for 3 days in Desolation a bit above 9000', I used about a 1/4 oz more of fuel for making pasta and making pancakes. The temp control allows you to make pancakes or scramble some eggs but, it does take some practice to figure out the perfect position on the simmer ring. This stove does need a wind screen which is extremely easy to do yourself or you can buy one. I made mine out of two pop cans I sadly found on the trail. It helped alot on a bike trip along the coast. It's decently light and all the components (except fuel bottle) packs into the included pot, which is nice and compact. Easily cleaned too. If you're looking for the MOST reliable stove get the Trangia.
Read More i've used this stove for awhile bow. it's small and light. the pot makes food for 1.5 person, not really enough for 2. comparing to a gas stove like MSR or others in that category, this stove takes 3 times as long to boil water. it's really inefficient. hard to light sometimes and goes out unexpectedly. another issue with alcohol fuel, you will inevitably forget to tighten the canister super tight and it will leak out- leaving things smell like alcohol and leaving you without fuel. you can buy a small gas stove for a bit more, it really doesnt make sense to get this product. seriously. dont buy it.
