Read More These socks are great under wool hiking socks, and wear forever. I liked them so much that I bought six pairs. Two years ago I started to replace them and discovered that Fox River lost all semblance of quality control in the intervening decade. Every package of socks (all large) is a different size. Some are 1/2" too long, some 1" too long, a couple are nearly 2" too long so that the white heel cup misses my heel entirely and sits up on my achilles tendon! I tried again this month with the same disastrous results. I've switched to Wigwam liners instead--buying Fox River is now a waste of money. -

Read More I bought a pair of these liners after reading about them in a Backpacker Magazine gear guide review. I have not been disappointed and I am back to buy two more pairs. Other sock liners that I have used do not seem to retain their shape and get bunched up. These stay in place and do not get stretched out when wet. Excellent design. I marked "thin" as a Con - these are almost as thin as a nylon stocking. They are best used as designed - as a liner within another sock. -

Read More I have a drawer full of liner socks that accumulated through the ages. Only a few seem to do what I think they should do: prevent blisters. These I got in the spring and have had them on my feet a few times with a wool sock over them. They don't stick to my feet and my feet end up rubbing a bit on these. They also bunch up under my feet. Some other sock in my drawer sticks tenaciously to my feet and the socks rub on each other, leaving my feet feeling as if they hadn't really gone for a 5 mile hike with a 25 lb pack. I wish I knew where I got those other socks, however, another reviewer wrote something about getting the next size smaller, because of stretching during wear. That could be the answer to life's great liner sock mystery. -
Dec 30, 2010Sock It To Me - it's a great cakeLove em. Work very well alone or in combination. Nice weave, no blisters. Work well at reducing odor, but there is always a limit.

Read More I work as an EMT and used to wear only dress suit socks in my waterproof slip-on boots. At the end of a 12+ hour shift, with 10+ hours of not taking the boots off, my feet were quite funky when getting off shift. I've been wearing these Fox liners (Backpacker magazine tough award winner) and love it. My feet funk has decreased exponentially, whether in dress socks or wool socks. Definitely recommend them for anyone working in boots or nonbreathable shoes all day long. They are quite thin, will see if Backpacker's editors are right about its life expectancy. -

Read More These socks wick well but were so slippery inside my wool socks that I got blisters from sliding around. I ended up going without liners the second day and was fine with just my smartwool socks. I also prefer liners to be as long as my socks, which these were not. They were about half the length of normal hiking socks.
Read More These are quite a bit thinner than most of my other liner socks, and I found that I can't use them with my Darn Tough socks, which have a thicker sole. Only time I've ever gotten blisters when using a liner sock!
