    Nice wide flame
Some small stoves put out a small flame. This flame allows you to actually cook, as well as the usual water heating.

I'm not a backpacker who was looking for a light stove. I'm a burropacker who was looking for a dependable, easy to use stove that doesn't take up too much space in the panniers of my pack burro. i adopted a bureau of land management wild burro who takes the load off my back hiking. she carries my gear, provisions and this (so far) very trustworthy stove. i have since bought a second primus trail stove, especially for breakfast time, gotta have a hot meal and some top gourmet coffee to meet the day, both cooking simultaneously!

I bought this Primus stove to use on multi-day and week-long backpacking trips and have not regretted it a bit. It's simple, inexpensive, dependable, and compact. It has never failed me. Initially I wasn't sure how much fuel to take, so I ran a test. Using the smallest MSR fuel container, the stove stayed on medium for almost exactly an hour. Wow! Boiling a liter of water in just minutes, one container is plenty for several multi-day trips. Pretty hard to go wrong with the Primus. I will have to say that am not doing cold weather camping anymore!

This stove worked flawlessly my entire backpacking trip up in the North Cascades. When at the store searching for a stove, I watched people look over it just because the price is so low on comparison to others. However, cheep in price isn't cheep in function! The water boiled very quickly, especially with a kid to hold heat in. The flame never flickered, and one small fuel canister lasted the entire week. That adds up to 30 books total, and it still wasn't empty. I would highly recommend this stove!

This stove has held up well due to its simplicity and is cheap enough that one is not inclined to baby it or worry about it. The portion where the pot sits is ample (I wish it were smaller). It does not do well in lower temperatures due to a lack of fuel preheat and high butane content of most readily available fuel blends. Based on this, when temperatures start to go below 50F it is important to know what your particular fuel brand/blend is capable of. I would recommend this for beginners and summer applications. It is not as carefree for colder weather.

This is well worth the 8oz of weight for backpacking. It lights easily, is sturdy, keeps it's flame well, even when windy and is very easy to use. Without a doubt I think that this is the best "bang for your buck"... It packs nice and small as well, which is always helpful. I usually have room to fit it inside my bear canister. I have used lighter weight stoves, but always come back to this one.

Worked great in wet, windy conditions.
Bought this for my first ever AT hike. The weekend was wet and a little windy but I had no trouble lighting the stove.
