Read More I guess I'm a bit picky about my socks and I have a favorite brand/model for each activity. I purchased these for mountaineering and ice climbing. The socks are terrible...loose weave, too short, and an old-school Wigwam type of feel. If you want a real mountaineering sock, look to the Darn Tough ones. Those are a true over-the-calf sock with great padding, a tight weave, and they are way warmer. -

Read More So, we should start by saying these are the best mountaineering socks currently available. But, the best could be better. First, I believe mountaineering socks should be "over the calf," these fall a few inches short. Second, I have massive calf muscles and these socks are not built strong enough to stay up. Other than those two incredibly important items, these are the best socks I've ever owned. Thicker than anything you've ever seen. Super comfy and blister free wether you hiking 20 miles, climbing mixed terrain, pushing for the summit or just sitting on the porch with some coffee. Fortunately my base layer is tight enough to keep the sock up for the most part. But they still continually manage to slide down. I've entertained the idea of a sock garter, but seriously, what mountaineer wears those? Overall these guys get 3 stars. Please build a taller and stronger sock. -

Read More Close, but no cigar. These are nice socks: warm and comfortable. I wish they were better crafted. They fall about 3-4 inches short of being over the calf height, as I expect mountaineering socks to be. And, they are not well crafted enough to stay up on their own otherwise. They fall, and they bunch up at the top of your boots. I am 5'10", average build, boot 12D. I tried the appropriately sized XL. I really wish they were crafted/fit better. They will be nice for lounging around the house, but not for out in the field. -

Read More Great product! In terms of warmth, they hold heat all day. I spent a day on the slopes in Colorado with them and never had any issue. Usually, my feet get cold a few hours into any outdoor activity in the the winter, but with these I never noticed any creeping coldness. However, with the good comes the bad. The reason I gave them 4 stars was because they fit a bit large. While they are super warm the elastic band at the top that fits around the calf is the only part of the sock that seems to stay formed around your leg. Everything else fits loosely. Although there is this issue, the primary reason for purchasing this sock is warmth and under that criteria it passes. I would recommend this sock. -
Jan 29, 2014warm and comfyI have not used these very often. But they feel great. don't know about durability
Read More Well padded, warm, seams unbothersome, love these, not my first pair and will not be my last - wear good socks, can be the difference between enjoying a long hike and blisters, soreness, or worse
