Read More I've put quite a few miles on the various socks in my stable--heavy trekking with heavy boots to fast 20+ mile days in trail shoes--and I've never parked my feet in socks so soft as these. The interior is just staggeringly fluffy. I like these socks. No sock I own feels as good. They are really very nice socks. I would only give this caveat: they seem to flatten over the course of a hike and wear down with long use. (Emphasizing that they are wearing down from an amazingly comfortable place to adequacy). Only, next to the miraculous longevity of my Throlo heavy hikers, I can't quite call these socks perfect. Really, really soft and fluffy--but not perfect. So! I'd recommend these socks to a friend looking for some super fluffy socks for lighter hiking, but I'd probably recommend Thorlos otherwise. -

Read More Once upon a time I bought outdoor/hiking socks not made by SmartWool. The other brand was cheaper. I thought I was being smart and frugal. The other brand wore out quickly. I did not save a dime in the long run, meaning about two years when all my Brand X socks headed to the happy hunting ground. SmartWool delivers quality that holds up over years. Don't be a fool like me and think you can save money with another brand. -

Read More I love the wild patterns and colors - those 10 degree and below mornings it is REALLY HARD to get out of bed at 4:30 AM, pull on heavy fleece lined riding britches and layers of clothes but the Smartwool line of hiking socks are amazing and the colors are a spirit lift and a source of smiles and giggles at the barn when the boots come off. I have recommended Smartwool to my riding buddies, starting them off with their first pair as my treat, and we are confirmed Smartwool fans. After the barn, time to change into work clothes and another pair of Smartwool socks for the office. Love them.
Read More I never wrote a review before for anything. I did my purchasing at REI for a number of things for my South Africa Volunteer Work with AERU - researching with elephants in the fields. The accommodations are remedial at best but these SOCKS! They are LUXURIOUS! We had no water for washing recently and I had to repeat wear some of these socks....you could not tell the difference from a fresh pair. They are the best piece of clothing; how did I not know about these socks earlier?? I would wear them in the office and not just during hiking or international adventures. I love them!
