Jul 2, 2015Package for 2.5 people ?OK, this is my favorite dinner from Mt. Hs. But, really, package for 2.5 meals ? I repackage in desired portions, or share my dinner with 1.5 other hikers.

Read More This is one of the best Mountain House meals, and I consider Mountain House the best of the breed. Good source of lean protein, and the noodles are packed with carbs for long days on the trail, or an easy shore lunch\dinner when you're tired and don't want to cook much. This is loaded with sodium, but with the extra activity of hiking or backpacking, I don't worry about it. The long shelf life and no preservatives are a plus for emergency preparedness, and my family certainly likes the taste. Great alternative to MREs or shelf-stabilized meals! -

Read More Looking for something filling but not "heavy"? Give this a try. It's pretty good on it's own but really takes off if you fix it up a bit. I add a mix of garlic powder, onion powder and oregano. Your tastes may vary. The instructions say 2 cups of water. I recommend 1 3/4 if you add herbs/spices, a little less if not, otherwise it's "soupy".
