Read More Used these for years inside water shoes and scuba boots when doing multi-day wet feet trips. Keeps from getting blisters. Navy is my favorite - doesn't turn the color of the muddy creek! Also good for hiking and backpacking - like other reviews have mentioned Like that they come in 2 colors, so I can keep the white hiking ones separate from the navy water ones. Usually last about 2 years and get lost or smell bad, rather than get holes. Never had any melt in the dryer - maybe the newest ones are thinner? -

Read More I took two pair of Gobis on a 210 KM hike through the Sierras and was very disappointed. While I had worn each pair a couple times before departure I never expected to wear them out so that by the end of the trip they were useless. While I did not intend to bring them, I found a pair of Patagonia liners in the bottom of my sleeping bag and they saved the day. Let me express, I'm no lightweight. I'm about 92 kg and I was carrying a 11 kg pack (with bear keg, water, at the food drop), but I still think it was reasonable to expect the Gobis to make it through the trip. One last point; the Gobi liners work really well as long as they last. They just do not last. -

Read More I am a newbie and just beginning to hike a lot. I have worn these liner socks with SmartWool socks and leather Vazquez boots in temperatures from 10 degrees to 85 degrees (including 8 hrs in airports). I have been perfectly comfortable! The only reason I give them a 4 instead of a 5 is that I am afraid to machine wash/dry them - they are polyester and I'm confident they would melt. Since I handwash/dry much of my exercise stuff, this is no big deal to me. -
Apr 3, 2011Great Liner, Sizing is off. These are really great Liners. No hot spots at all on my feet. Be aware of sizing. I wear a 10.5 - 11 shoe, and the Medium Sock (sizes 5 -9.5) fits perfect.

Read More Great sock. Pros: Wicks amazingly well. Smooth feel. Makes feet dry and therefore warm. Dries quickly. Cons: Sizing is off/ Go with smaller size for snug fit. Strange seem, doesn't bother me but others might be putt off. Elastic is kinda loose. Might bunch up if top sock has trouble staying up. Stinks quickly. Almost the perfect sock. Tighter elastic on top, correct sizing, and some silver nano would make it perfect. Oh well. Regardless just ordered my 3rd pair.
Read More Found the need for liners to use with medium weight wool socks for winter hiking. Using them in conjuction with my wool socks helped to keep my feet warmer. Wigwam brand socks had been a choice of mine for many years, so I was confident with purchasing the Gobi Liners at my local REI. Some pairs have worn out faster than others, however almost nothing should be expected to last forever. Sometimes the seam at the toe can be a little annoying. Other than that the liners do their job.
