Comfortable fit but terrible DWR
First pair of of Patagonia ski pants and I’m not impressed I’ve worn these a couple of times skiing now. One of the days was dry and sunny and the pants were quite comfy. Movement is really good. The second day ended with rain and the pants immediately started to wet out on the thighs, knees and shins. When I got home I did a spray bottle test and the pants showed signs of wetting out. The water didn’t bead up as expected. If you’re looking for a PNW ski pant these are not the ones. I’ve used Arc’teryx, Helly Hansen and Columbia. These are the worst. Size Med Will be returning
Big waist small boot cuff
The materials and construction of these pants were good from my evaluation, but they were too large in the waist and too small to fit around my ski boots. As an average sized person in height, weight and other dimensions, the sizing regime was surprising. Returned for a different model.
Sizing issues be sure to try on in store
Made from quality material as are all Patagonia products however the sizing of these pants is way off. I purchased a men's medium and had to return them since the seat of the pants appeared to be designed for Nicki Minaj.
Fit good and good DWR
I’m 5’ 11”, 205lbs. Normally wear a 36x32 Levi jeans, a Large fit great in the waist, thighs, and seat. My only complaint is the leg bottoms. They are a tight fit around my ski boots. Yes, the waist buttons could be bigger, there are two small buttons to snap the waist together. I’ve had zero issues with the DWR. I’ve skied in heavy snow conditions without issues. Overall, I would recommend.
Not for high output touring
These pants just aren't breathable enough for their intended use. Clammy is how I would describe them when touring. The fabric can't seem to transport moisture out and the single outside vents aren't enough to make up for it. I had my cuffs rolled up, vents wide open, even opened the fly and there was still moisture building up on my legs during a short but steady tour around 30deg F. The fit is odd- if you have a huge booty and are on the tall side you might dig these. I would need to rock an XS in them where I usually wear S. Cinching down the single waist adjustment creates a bunch/fold in the wasit on one side, not a smooth fit like you get with the typical waist adjustments on each side. The fabric is pretty nice though and not too crinkly for a waterproof shell. Aforementioned body shapes looking for something comfortable to ski on area or for low output touring might dig these. A base layer might help a bit with the clamminess.
Main use - PNW mountaineering
I use these for shoulder-season mountaineering, or 4-season with an insulating layer. For mountaineering pants, they're impressively lightweight. They also have a bit of an athletic trim on the legs to minimize any rubbing together or friction that you get from snowpants. The interior fits over my mountaineering boots and helps keep my legs warm, and it can be opened to help fit over ski boots. Vents on each side are fantastic for heat management. For the weather resistance - these are fantastic against wind and fairly ok against rain/snow. I've been caught in some storms, and these did wet out eventually, but after at least a few hours of continually sideways rain. The pockets were the first to wet through, and even with them wetting out, my legs stayed dry. They did dry fairly quickly. As far as fit - I'm a 32'' and usually fit in mediums, and these are no exception. They have a bit baggy of a waist, but you can adjust it a bit and a belt helps.
I’ll try them some day soon
Bought these for early winter backpacking, but due to an injury, haven’t had them in the rain and snow. Just the kind of reviews I dislike, and don’t find helpful. I’m 6’2 225 and the CL fits well. They seem well built, and I really like the smooth interior.
Great pant for backcountry skiing
A very good outdoor pant for the price. The material is very good, workmanship is very good--overall a great pant for my winter needs. One little complaint is that the closure buttons are too small.
Decent pants but not good for wet climates
Fit is good pretty comfortable basic pants. Water proofing is pretty bad wet out on me multiple times
