False Advertising
I purchased a lander cairn lantern over two months ago because of the claimed run time of 10 hours at 300 lumens. The lantern is well made, the light is warm and pleasant but... it does not have an average burn time of 10 hours on high. This claim is not at all accurate or even close to the reality (2.5 hour burn time). I was disappointed and I wrote the company to let them know about their inaccurate claims they “notified the brand manager of this so that we can work getting this corrected.” After two months Lander’s dishonest claim remains. If a company continues to inaccurately advertse something a simple as runtime why should we trust the other claims they make regarding their products?
Fantastic light.
Perfect size, incredibly bright, and lasts for over 150 hours. That sold me. Then I learned it could charge my phone and it was waterproof, and I put 2 more in my cart as gifts. Often times I feel like multi-function products do 2 things poorly. Not this one. The Cairn is an amazing lantern. It has 2.1 amp output and 3300 mAh, which makes it a better portable battery than most. This is starting to sound like an ad so I will stop– I'm very impressed by this product, I'd recommend it to anybody.
Makes Backpacking Lighter & Your Campsite Brighter
I bought this back in March but finally had an opportunity to use it on a 2 night backpacking trip. I love it. It's bright and it's light, PLUS I can charge my Garmin Fenix 5x and my IPhone. Then if need be I can charge it using my solar panel. But even after charging the aforementioned and using it, it still pretty much has full power. Last night of my trip was cloudy with light snow and it really lit up my tent site. I do quite a bit of solo backpacking and love my light at night. I might actually pick up a second one because it's brighter and lighter than another brand that I have.

the perfect adventure buddy
Got this thing because i love Lander and I thought it was so cool that they're in REI now. I took it car camping and it blew my buddy's lantern away with how bright it was. Having a super bright light in such a small waterproof package that can also charge my phone is so nice. I never leave the house without it
does not charge iPhone to 100%
I bought this item and have used it twice. Once while camping I used it to charge my phone starting at 2% and it only charged it to 77% and then shut off. The packaging said it would charge a cellphone to 100% twice (wroooooong). The second time I used it was at work it started charging at 14% and only made it to 79% and then shut off (what theeeeee). This item will get you a little juice, but if you’re planning on going on a multi day or even extended day hike and you are using your phone as GPS, camera, etc and I relying on a portable phone charger THIS IS NOT IT.
A Thousand Uses
I've been using this for several months and have found it AMAZINGLY useful. From outdoor uses to business travel in hotel rooms that never seem to have the right amount of light, this little thing adjusts from little more than a matchlight to a full bedside tablelamp. Right now it's securely clipped to my crutches so I can get up safely in the night without waking my partner. I still haven't run the battery down from the initial charge.
Bright light
Wow what a bright light. It's great that it's dimmable. It's a handy size and not a bad weight. The only issue I found was the access cover fir the recharge/charge ports is a bit hard to open up. But it is supposed to be water proof.
Hard to turn on/off
Two stars because the product looks nice and feels pretty well made. However the on/off buttons are hard to push- very narrow so you have to press hard with the tip of your finger- and impossible to see in the dark. The settings to dim the light are not intuitive either... i.e. press and hold the same narrow button, etc. An extra dial would be great for this as well as round buttons. Would love to like this light but returning it.
Good light not so good phone charger
Great light. Very bright and lasts a long time. I tried to charge my Samsung galaxy s8. The lantern only charged my phone half way. I checked the lantern and saw that it was almost empty. It only had one light out of five remaining. I love the light but I'm still keeping my back up battery close by.
