- Group size: 20
- Instructor: Author Kathy Schrenk
Kathy Schrenk has been hiking with her kids since her oldest was a newborn, more than 12 years ago. Now she leads her three kids and groups of all ages on hikes around the St. Louis area. At this event, learn about all the region has to offer, including spectacular hikes in St. Louis County, St. Charles County, points south, and on the Illinois side of the river. Find out about unique hikes at the usual destinations like Castlewood and Johnson's Shut Ins state parks. Learn about hidden gems like Pickle Springs, with its rock formations and frozen waterfalls, and Piney Creek, home of ancient rock paintings. Get tips on how to get kids excited about nature, starting when they are getting carried on a hike to when they are ready to carry their tent into the woods on their first backpacking trip. Kathy's knowledge of the region and experience with kids can help any family get started or take their adventures to the next level.
