Virtual: Nike & REI How to Choose a Trail Shoe with Scott Gravatt

It might surprise you to discover that Nike Trail is just barely an official thing at Nike. Almost a decade into the "project" it is still shepherded by a dozen or so passionate employees inside of the Beaverton, Oregon headquarters. Scott Gravatt is one of those people. He also happens to be the National Sales Director for Nike Running. If you made him pick either coffee or beer for the rest of his life, his head would probably explode. Professionally he's got a 13+ year career at Nike, before that he was a low-key surf bum. His entry into Running was through Ultramarathons (the first race bib he ever pinned to his chest was for a 100 mile race) but he has since raced every distance on road and trail. He spends all of his time off sleeping in his car and running in the woods, including a recent 30 day stint in New Zealand. He's part of Nike's official wear test program and the only thing he loves more than telling everyone when something sucks is telling them when something is near-perfect (spoiler alert, the new Wildhorse7 is near perfect). He is an opinionated shoe nerd at heart and can talk about shoes until the coffee (or beer) runs out.
