Major Taylor Trail Keepers Fundraiser Bike Ride and Festival

2021 marks the 122nd anniversary of Marshall Walter "Major" Taylor winning the 1899 world championships in Montreal, Canada. Taylor won the one-mile sprint, to become the first African American to win a world championship in cycling and was our nation's first African American sports hero. The Major Taylor Trail Keepers bicycle ride in Chicago and its southern suburbs featured a revitalized stretch of the Major Taylor Trail and serves as a fundraiser for the trail's upkeep. With options of 5, 26, 30, 44, 50, 64 or 89 miles, the ride had something for everyone. Proceeds from this event will go towards the Major Taylor Trail Keepers Chicago for the upkeep/improvement of the Major Taylor Trail located in Chicago, Il. If the pandemic or weather prevents the event from occurring in person all registrations will be converted to virtual event registration.
