Summer is here! It's time to lace up your boots & set out on an overnight backpacking trip in North Cascades National Park! Starting near Ruby Creek, we will hike the East Bank Trail along the Ruby Arm, which was the scene of a gold rush in the 1880s. After about 3 miles, we will make camp under a forest canopy that rests just minutes from an overlook featuring a stunning view of Ross Lake and its surrounding glacier-clad peaks. You will have ample opportunity to hone your skills while enjoying 24 hours in the backcountry: learn what to bring, how to carry it, what and how to cook, managing water, navigation, and choosing a campsite - all while practicing Leave No Trace principles. This trip is designed with new backpackers in mind - no prior experience is necessary. Be prepared for 1,700 feet of elevation gain over the course of 2 days. The best part about this trip? We do all the packing, planning, and provide all necessary gear - you just have to show up! We can't wait to get outside with you!
