Friends of Nevada Wilderness invites you to our March Wild Speaker Series. Our presenter will be Cody Walton of the Great Basin Institute. Cody will provide a detailed view into the formation of the Great Basin. From the ancient Cambrian sea (over 500 million years ago) to today's high desert, the Great Basin has been home to a wide variety of life. This presentation will explore the formation of the Great Basin as a unique geological feature and present examples of the ancient animals, such as the American Mastodon and Shonisaurus. Cody will also detail the prehistoric Natives that called the Great Basin home thousands of years before American settlers moved out west. This will be an informative presentation you won't want to miss! Cody Walton is a archaeologist with the Great Basin Institute. The Great Basin Institute is an interdisciplinary field studies organization that promotes environmental research, education, and conservation throughout the West. The Institute advances ecological literacy and habitat restoration through educational outreach and direct service programs.
