The Jacksonville chapter of the American Pilgrims on the Camino presents a talk about walking the Camino De Santiago. Come join Miriam Gallet to find out more about walking along the Camino de Santiago. Today, tens of thousands of pilgrims set out each year to make their way to Santiago de Compostela. Most travel by foot, some by bicycle, and a few travel on horseback or by donkey. In addition to those undertaking a religious pilgrimage, the majority are hikers who walk the route for non-religious reasons: travel, sport, or simply the challenge of weeks of walking in a foreign land. The mission of American Pilgrims on the Camino is to foster the enduring tradition of the Camino by supporting its infrastructure, by gathering pilgrims together, and by providing information and encouragement to past and future pilgrims. As a local chapter of the American Pilgrims of the Camino, the Jacksonville Chapter (of Northeast Florida) seeks to support the mission of the national organization (APOC).
