Trail Talk from an Old Dirt Kicker

Since 1966 J.R. Harris has done more than fifty multi-week treks, all unsupported and most of them solo. During that time he has faced terrible weather, hair-raising river crossings, and wildlife encounters, but he has also beheld the awesome majesty and pristine beauty of our incredible planet. This will be a lively, interactive presentation enhanced with numerous photo images to illustrate the top ten topics or issues that people are most curious about regarding wilderness travel. J.R. will address each topic, such as planning, skills, wildlife, fear, and being alone, within the context of one of his many backcountry journeys. Attendees will benefit from a unique perspective on wilderness exploration, and the importance of supporting, maintaining, and protecting our natural environments. Learn more about J.R. and see photos of his treks at www.jrinthewilderness.com. Copies of J. Robert Harris' book, 'Way Out There: Adventures of a Wilderness Trekker,' will be available at this event.
