Calling all Volunteers! Join us on Black Friday to not only #OPTOUTSIDE but #OPTTOACT with our local nonprofit partner, Urban Roots as we collect your compost and work around the farm! Come work with us, or bring your 5 gallon buckets of compostable material. Volunteers get a free stewardship T-shirt and some pizza! Not able to Volunteer, feel free to bring your compost leftovers from your holiday festivities. Composting is good for several reasons: It saves water by helping the soil hold moisture and reduce water runoff. It benefits the environment by recycling organic resources while conserving landfill space! Items that you can compost: coffee grounds and filters Fruits, veggies, and egg shells Grains, rice, bread, tofu Old spice, dried herbs Nuts and nutshells Tea bags and leaves- remove staples Old houseplants- dead flowers Dirt from sweeping- crumbs Nail clippings/ hair/ qtips (non plastic) Shredded paper/paper grocery bags BPI "certified Compostable" products Light yard debris, dead insects Toliet and paper towel rolls Do Not Compost: Animal feces Meat, bones, animal products Standing oil, fat, grease Seafood Charcoal ash Take out containers Vacuumed dust
