  • Instructor OCIN

Whether you are an absolute beginner or already have some knowledge of navigating with a map and compass, practice makes perfect. Join Orienteering Cincinnati (OCIN) for a special Fall class using a detailed topographic and compass to navigate outdoors. OCIN will offer introductory (morning 9:00am-12:30pm) and intermediate (afternoon 1:00pm-4:30pm) workshops for people who are interested in learning or developing navigational skills. Participants will learn to orienteer using a detailed map, and to use the map with a compass. The training will be a combination of classroom and outdoor "in the woods" training. Skills will be taught and participants will practice in a safe and controlled environment. All ages welcome. Wear comfortable clothes for outdoor activity. Hiking boots, trail shoes, or running shoes are recommended. Bring a compass if you have one, loaners will be available and you can try different types. You may sign up for either class, or get a discount by doing both. REI members will receive a member discount on the workshop fees using code REI2019. Pre-registration is required.
