Science experts from the Harpeth Conservancy will give a presentation about pollution issues impacting our rivers and potential solutions to these issues. Specifically, they will talk about nutrient pollution and nuisance algae that can grow in our rivers, creating hazardous conditions for humans, pets, and wildlife. These issues are global problems affecting every corner of our world and are beginning to show up in Middle Tennessee. One solution to these problems is the use of river and wetland restoration, however, these strategies are only effective if we know where the problem is located. Harpeth Conservancy is working hard to monitor and track algal growth and has ways for citizens to help through the use of our mobile phone app, Water Reporter. Come out to an enjoyable and informative evening with the Harpeth Conservancy to learn about the science of our rivers and ways you can help make a positive difference in your local environment.
