Volunteer Trailbuilding on the Arizona Trail
- Minimum age: 18
- Group size: 40
- Instructor: Coconino National Forest
Come join some great people for some good times as REI teams up with Coconino National Forest and the Arizona Trail Association in re-routing section 31A of the Arizona Trail. We will be meeting at Sandy's Canyon Trailhead off of Lake Mary Road at 8:30am. We'll start the morning with a safety talk, grabbing our tools, loading up with water and hiking a mile to the work site. Once out there, we'll be working as a team to rough in the trail while enjoying the beautiful fall weather of Northern Arizona. After a couple hours, at 11:00am, we'll hike back out to our vehicles where a lunch buffet and raffle of REI gear and stewardship t-shirts will be waiting to reward you for your volunteerism. Don't forget to wear long pants, long sleeve shirt, and good hiking shoes/boots as well as bring a pair of work gloves, water container, and a bike/climbing helmet if you have one. See you out on the trail!
