Join the largest California volunteer effort! CA Coastal Clean-up 2019 will have 27 locations throughout Santa Barbara County, and this year REI & local brand Toad&Co. are teaming up as volunteer captains at Lookout Park, Summerland. Set your watch for Sat., 9/21, from 9-12 pm, with a gathering at one of our special beach locations and join over 1,200 volunteers helping impact and clean-up our beloved beaches, and Summerland's Lookout Park is one of our gems! Last year, an estimated 1,000 volunteers helped clean up 4,000 lbs. of trash and 1,400 lbs. of recyclables. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged, and all kids under 18 will need a parent/guardian to sign waiver and bring to event (please find form on Explore Ecology website at link below). Please remember to bring your own gear basics for event: water, sunscreen, sun protection, snack and wear protective footwear (flip flops discouraged). Volunteers are strongly encouraged to carpool to location and bring their reusable gloves, bags or buckets, and water bottles to reduce waste and decrease the plastic footprint of the cleanup. For more information, please contact Explore Ecology at (805) 884-0459.
