Eugene's Urban Nature: "The Willamette River Tree and Nature Walk" is the second in a series of three nature walks from the Eugene REI store and it will focus on the Willamette River. We'll talk about ecological history and identify trees and plants as we walk from the REI store to the river path. We'll see massive native cottonwoods, introduced walnuts and many other trees including multiple recent tree plantings that we hope will be climate resilient trees for the future. We'll leave the REI store at 7pm and return about 8:30pm. Meet at REI, 306 Lawrence St in Eugene. For more information email Eugenetrees@friendsoftrees.org. Free. This first in a series of three nature walks from the Eugene REI store will focus on the Willamette River. We'll look at riparian trees and talk about Eugene's historic forests along the river. We'll look at recent Friends of Trees plantings and talk about climate change and what trees might be resilient in a warmer future.
