Foraging food for free can be fun if you want to add some interesting and nutritious ingredients to your meals or need a handy trail-side snack. The great outdoors provides a year-round abundant supply of free and nutritional food for those willing to explore it. Join Don Philpot as he explores nature's edible larder. Don has been writing and experiencing the great outdoors for more than 50 years. He has backpacked, climbed, canoed, ridden, and skied throughout Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, the Arctic, Australia, and New Zealand. He co-founded Footloose, the first environmental outdoors magazine in the UK in the 1970's and has written more than 60 books on camping, campfire cooking, travel, survival, and the great outdoors. He is an instructor with the University of Florida's Florida Master Naturalist program, a Certified Interpretive Guide and member of the National Association for Interpretation. As a member of the Wekiva Wilderness Trust and a volunteer at Wekiwa Springs State Park, he helps run interpretive programs and guided walks and regularly conducts edible Florida and basic survival classes. He also serves on the Board of Friends of Florida State Parks Inc.
