Join REI for a 2-day, 1-night paddle down the Mississippi River! On day one, we'll provide lunch and then kayak at a leisurely pace downstream, stopping along the way to take in the natural beauty of this iconic river. We'll land for the evening on an island in the middle of the river, accessible only by boat, where we'll set up camp for the night. You'll enjoy a lovely evening surrounded by the calming sounds of the moving river all around you, and enjoy a dinner provided by your exceptional guides. We'll teach you the tips and tricks of setting up a comfortable camp, and learn how to have an enjoyable night in a tent while following the principles of Leave No Trace. On day two, we'll pack up and head back onto the river to continue our journey downstream. Previous basic kayaking experience is recommended. Participants should be at least 14 years old, weigh a minimum of 100 pounds and confidently be able to paddle a solo kayak. Kayaking equipment, tents, sleeping pads and all meals are provided.
