Fly Fishing the Backcountry: High Lakes and Small Steams
- Group size: 30
- Instructor: Ronald Belak
Ron Belak's presentation covers strategies for fishing high mountain lakes and small streams in the Colorado backcountry and discusses their fishery management, seasonal variability and entomology. The material presented is a synopsis of his recent book entitled "Fly Fishing Colorado's Backcountry" (2018, BookBaby). Ron Belak is an award-winning writer and photographer who has fished the Colorado backcountry as an adult for 40 years. In that time, he has fished about 400 different high lakes and many, many miles of small streams in Colorado. Educated as a scientist, he approaches fly fishing from an analytical perspective, trying to decide what strategies, techniques, equipment and patterns work. Ron Belak's writing and photography appears regularly in Colorado Outdoors magazine--the official publication of Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
