Enjoy panoramic river gorge views from your kayak on this tour around Hales Bar Dam. The original dam on the Tennessee River sits eerily of the side of the river, it is no longer a functioning dam as it was plagued by continuously leaking bedrock under the dam. Hales Bar Construction started in 1905 and was built for flood control, boat navigation, and hydroelectric power in the Tennessee Valley. Ideal for those with a little bit of prior paddling experience, you can hone your kayaking skills while exploring the river's most idyllic hidden nooks. Learn the history of the area, and the surrounding ecosystem, and maybe even catch a glimpse of a bald eagle, river otter, or great blue heron. The best thing about this tour? We do all the planning and packing--you just have to show up.
