We will cover topics like elk in Cataloochee Valley, the Mountain Farm Museum, bear safety tips, and North Carolina visitor centers and entrances. Friends of the Smokies is a nonprofit partner of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and assists the National Park Service in its mission to preserve and protect Great Smoky Mountains National Park by raising funds and public awareness, and providing volunteers for needed projects. Over the last 25 years, Friends has raised more than $63 million to support projects and programs in the national park, like protection of hemlock trees, wildlife and water quality monitoring, environmental education programming for schoolchildren, and preservation of historic structures.
