A cold beverage is even better at the end of a great day outside! Join REI for a guided hike up the cascades and canyons of Little Devils Stairs. There's a reason that this relatively short hike is one of Shenandoah's classics. The hike follows Keyser Run, crisscrossing the stream multiple times as it ascends, ultimately passing through a beautiful rock gorge formed by the stream. The return hike passes through some old growth forests and an old cemetery - a reminder of the human occupants of Shenandoah's not-too-distant past. When we get back to the trailhead, we're not done! We'll caravan in separate vehicles a short distance to another peak Shenandoah experience: the masterful brewing of Pen Druid in Sperryville, VA. In the few years that this family owned brewery has been open, they've acquired quite a reputation for their beverages - spontaneously fermented using local wild yeasts and wood-fired brewing system. REI will provide a hiking guide, as well as buy your first beverage at Pen Druid after the hike wraps up. We'll spend an hour at the brewery before saying goodbye. If you want to enjoy some more of Pen Druid's offerings, feel free! Please plan on packing your own lunch and snacks for this trip - we'll take care of the rest.
- Enjoy a classic Shenandoah pairing of trails and ales!
