The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area is known for its sweeping vistas overlooking the impressive rock formations of columnar basalt and the sheer mountains rising thousands of feet out of the Columbia River. It's an ideal place to take in views of the changing leaves at their peak color while learning about the region's history and surrounding ecosystem. This hike is perfect for all experience levels, and you'll need to feel comfortable hiking 4-6 miles on moderate terrain at a relaxed pace.
