This wintery excursion will introduce your kids to exploring the outdoors and will leave them wanting more. Bring your budding adventurers for a winter hike with a hot chocolate break on the trail. REI Outdoor School instructors will lead this kid-friendly hike in a local preserve, discussing tips and planning essentials for winter family trips into the outdoors. Learn how to pick a good trail and how to keep your little explorers interested and happy on the hike. You'll learn how to use traction devices on icy trails and develop safe winter hiking habits. On this outing we'll discuss and equip you with the right gear for a family outing in the snow and ice. A kid-specific version of Leave No Trace principles will be taught to instill good habits in the outdoors.
